Dr. Jay Joyce of Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates in Purcellville ...
... was recently selected by the World Equine Veterinary Association to be a speaker at its 2009 Annual Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Hundreds of veterinarians from around the world submitted topics and areas of expertise to present, and Dr. Joyce was ultimately chosen as one of the esteemed dignitaries from the United States.
He will be speaking on the surgical removal of a large tumor and subsequent treatment with an injectable chemotherapy drug. The case went well and his techniques will now be shared with an international audience of veterinarians.
The 11th Congress of the World Equine Veterinary Association will be hosted by the Brazilian Association of Equine Veterinarians (ABRAVEQ) and the Brazilian Confederation of Equestrian Sports (CBH). Over 2000 veterinary delegates from around the world are expected to attend this event and will be able to choose lectures from a diverse program, with themes such as reproduction, infectious diseases, lameness, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, stem cell therapy, pre purchase examinations, neurology, internal medicine, colic, and problems in western horses.
Dr. Joyce is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a Gulf War veteran. He graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine and completed an internship at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA.
