Dr. Valerie Campbell
Born in Buffalo, NY in 1958, raised mostly in Northern Virginia. From a very young age gravitated to animals. Grew up with dogs, fish, horses, birds and Guinea pigs. Loved outdoor activities like bird watching, photography, gardening, and art. Was a Girl Scout through Middle school and did a lot of camping and projects in recycling, habitat repair and wildlife management.
After graduating from Oakton High School, attended Mary Washington and continued the interest with wildlife and biology by graduating with honors with a Bachelors degree in Biology. Attended VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine’s first class and graduated in 1984 with a DVM degree. Married Dr. Donald Nichols, a classmate and board certified Veterinary Pathologist in 1984 and had a son, Geoffrey Nichols in 1993 (BS Biology William and Mary 2015).
Started Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates, Inc. with classmate Dr. Nancy Hall in 1989, in Purcellville, VA. Has been active in community providing veterinary services ever since. Also farms over 140 acres in Loudoun and Clarke counties producing sheep, goats, cattle, horses, hay and exotic birds (since 1990). And owner/manager of Bed and Breakfast (The Mews, in Purcellville) and real estate rental/holding company, Monopoly (since 2005).
Practice interests include birds and exotics, wildlife medicine, surgery, internal medicine and practice management.
