Dr. Val Cortes (she/her) is a wellness and urgent care veterinarian for companion animals, with a strong professional interest in pathology. Originally from Rhode Island, she began her academic journey at the University of Rhode Island, earned a master’s degree in pathobiology from the University of Connecticut, and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University.

Dr. Cortes brings a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to both emergency treatment and preventive care, combining her clinical experience with a deep understanding of disease processes. She is passionate about delivering compassionate, informed care that supports both pets and their people.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Cortes is an avid endurance runner and cyclist, a dedicated home cook, and a lifelong reader. A self-proclaimed history buff, she’s always up for a good book or deep-dive documentary.
